The Life Story

Charles was born and raised is Hendersonville, TN, where he lived life on the edge from one adrenal rush to the next. Many people were surprised to know that Charles, also known as Charlie by friends and family, was a public accountant for 43 years. Charlie graduated from Hendersonville High School, and was known by the teachers and faculty for his exceptional grades and by his peers as a class clown. He was president of the bowling club and when not in the bowling alley, he spent most of his time in his parent’s garage rebuilding motorcycles. His love for motorcycles grew when opted out of buying his first car for a broken down Kawasaki. He rebuilt the engine and completely changed the look of the exterior. He named his new ride Diamond and it is still parked in his garage.

After high school, Charlie went on to the University of Tennessee and graduated in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minor in Finance. During his time at UOT Charlie met his future bride Beverly, they spent their weekends on long motorcycle rides along I-75 enjoying the road and time together.

Charlie was always the life of the party. His motto was always “work hard and play harder”. His favorite time of the year was the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally weekend in South Dakota. He looked forward to that trip every year, and brought back stories of his adventures to share with friends and coworkers. Charlie was a hardworking man, and a phenomenal father to Charles Jr., who also shares his father’s love of motorcycles. He treasured spending time with his beloved daughter Mackenzie. When at home, if he wasn’t hanging out with his family he was in his large, custom designed garage working on his collection of motorcycles that he proudly acquired over the years. He found so much comfort and joy in that garage as well as the feeling of the open road as he went for a drive. His favorite song, saying and outlook on life was “Life is a Highway”.
